By Sue Pacey and Kay Padley
Nine years ago, Stan Martindale met the love of his life – Kay Padley
It was as though they’d been waiting for each other all their lives.
Both in their 40s, life was perfect, until Stan had a minor operation on his hip. ‘See you in the morning, darling’ he said as she left him in the hospital. ‘I love you, Kay.’
These were the last words he ever spoke, for during that small operation, something devastating happened – and no one seemed to know what or why.
Three extensive areas of his brain had sustained so much damage that it was as though his memory had been wiped away. Unable to speak, eat, drink or communicate, there was seemingly nothing anyone could do.
But, Kay had other ideas. When everyone else had given up, she decided that it had only just begun. And she fought for her husband, like a tigress.
This is a heart-rending story that was crying out to be told and has been published with the generous help of so many people – but especially, Paul Bohill of Channel 5’s ‘Can’t pay? We’ll take it away’ and the skills of Keith Abbott at Michael Terence Publishing who worked with the author to bring this book into the public domain.
